Tinubu’s administration.

This declaration came as the Emeka Offor Foundation donated a remarkable $5 million to the Rotary Foundation to tackle maternal mortality in Nigeria.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by Rotary International Trustees Chair, Mark Maloney, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Shettima praised the enduring partnership between Rotary International and Nigeria, highlighting their contributions to national development.

“President Tinubu is a revolutionary leader, implementing historic reforms for Nigeria’s progress,” Shettima said, emphasizing the administration’s focus on environmental regeneration through initiatives like the Great Green Wall project. He called on Rotary to expand its role in combating deforestation and desertification, saying, “Your support in environmental regeneration is vital—it’s a win-win for everyone.”

Shettima also highlighted education as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s development, describing it as the ultimate equalizer that empowers disadvantaged youth.

“Education transforms lives. It offers a pathway for even the most marginalized to rise and excel. With Nigeria’s youthful demographics—an average age of 16.9—education remains our greatest investment,” he stated.

Milestones in Healthcare
Maloney commended Nigeria’s strides in eradicating wild poliovirus, crediting strong government collaborations. He revealed that Rotary had funded $34 million in health projects in Nigeria last year.

“Our partnership with the government has been instrumental in eradicating wild poliovirus and addressing vaccine-derived strains,” Maloney noted.

“This initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s vision of affordable healthcare and will significantly reduce maternal deaths,” Pate said, urging other philanthropists to emulate Offor’s generosity.

Offor’s Pledge to Health Initiatives
Sir Emeka Offor, the foundation’s benefactor, expressed his dedication to supporting government healthcare reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“We will continue to ensure healthcare services are accessible to all Nigerians, even in the most remote areas,” Offor pledged.
