In his rebuttal, Ohakim criticized Anyanwu for failing to disclose her apology to Abacha in her book, accusing her of hypocrisy.

In a statement titled “BOLD LEAP: CHRIS ANYANWU’S FALSE NARRATIVE AND LETTER OF APOLOGY TO GEN. ABACHA,” released by his Media Aide, Amanze Ajoku, Ohakim asserted that Nigerians are astute enough to recognize Anyanwu’s duplicity. He expressed frustration that decades after leveraging the military to achieve her ambitions, she now seeks to tarnish their reputation in print.

The statement elaborated, “It’s shocking that Christiana Anyanwu would pen a 612-page book while conveniently omitting her apology letter to Abacha. That document is accessible in government archives—there’s no need for anyone to stumble upon it.”

“Nigerians are not naive; they can identify a hypocrite from afar. After all these years of benefiting from the military, she now aims to malign them in her writings.”

He continued, “When challenged to deny writing the apology letter, her only response was to ask Dr. Ohakim to publish it for verification. This alone suggests an admission of guilt. Anyanwu’s history is one of troubled relationships with family, colleagues, and political partners.”

Ohakim questioned, “What is her current relationship with the governor who supported her Senate bid in 2011?” He emphasized that her career has been fraught with controversy rather than accomplishments.

“Since she chose to use her book to attack my character, I’m prepared to use my upcoming book to defend my reputation. I’ll be publishing Madam Anyanwu’s apology letter to Abacha to show she is not a suitable role model for our young girls.”

He concluded, “The public will then be able to judge who is truthful and who has a history of deceitfulness.”
