Nigerian Fraudster Defrauds Over 400 Elderly Americans Of $6 Million In Shocking Inheritance Scam!

On Wednesday, the Southern District of Florida found Ogbata guilty of misleading victims by sending fake letters claiming they were entitled to a multimillion-dollar inheritance from a deceased relative. The letters falsely stated that a Spanish bank representative was managing the inheritance and instructed the victims to pay fees for delivery, taxes, and other charges to avoid scrutiny from authorities.

Ogbata admitted to defrauding over $6 million from the victims, many of whom were senior citizens.

General Brian Boynton, head of the Justice Department’s Civil Division, emphasized the importance of international cooperation in fighting such crimes. Ogbata is set to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Roy Altman on April 14, 2025, with the potential for a 20-year prison sentence.
