This development comes after a crucial meeting convened by Governor Uba Sani on Friday, which brought both management and labour representatives to the table.

The power outage began when Kaduna Electric workers launched an industrial action on Sunday in response to the company’s decision to lay off 444 employees. This strike plunged Kaduna, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi States into darkness.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Governor Sani assured both parties of his commitment to fairness and announced his role as a guarantor to ensure equitable outcomes. Both sides agreed to collaborate in resolving the dispute amicably.

“The unions praised Governor Sani for his intervention and commended Dr. Umar Abubakar-Hashidu, KAEDCO’s Managing Director, for his leadership in advancing Kaduna Electric,” the resolution noted.

Labour representatives acknowledged the challenging economic environment under which the management operates but expressed their willingness to cooperate for the company’s success.

Both parties agreed that the conflict resulted from a breakdown in communication and emphasized the need for mutual concessions to reach a lasting settlement.
