Peugeot Is Back! Dangote Rolls Out 3008 GT & Landtrek Pickup From Nigerian Plant

Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited (DPAN), the official manufacturer and marketer of Peugeot vehicles in Nigeria, has commenced assembling the Peugeot 3008 GT model.

DPAN’s Chief Commercial Officer, Umar Isa-Kaita, recently confirmed that the company is also set to introduce the Peugeot Landtrek 4×2, a light commercial pickup truck with a rear-wheel-drive system. This rugged vehicle, powered by a 2.4-liter engine, is part of the Landtrek series, with a 4×4 variant also under consideration.

Isa-Kaita further revealed that DPAN is in discussions with various auto companies to expand Peugeot’s sales and after-sales network by accrediting dealerships across Nigeria.

DPAN is a joint venture between billionaire industrialist Alhaji Aliko Dangote, through his Dangote Industries Limited; the governments of Kaduna, Plateau, and Kebbi States; and Stellantis Group, Peugeot’s parent company.

The introduction of the 3008 GT and the upcoming Landtrek fulfill a commitment made by DPAN during the launch of the Peugeot 301 in January 2022. Managing Director Ibrahim Isa Gachi previously assured that the Landtrek, 3008, 5008, and the new 508 models would follow.

According to Isa Gachi, the plant has the capacity to assemble 120 Peugeot vehicles per day, operating in two shifts. Peugeot was once the flagship brand of Nigeria’s auto industry in the 1980s and early 1990s, but economic challenges and policy inconsistencies later paved the way for an influx of fully built-up vehicles from Asia.
