According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has revealed that her approach to music creation has shifted significantly since her debut, as she now prioritises sonic experimentation over emotion-based songwriting.

Speaking on the Creatorium Podcast, the Mavin Records artiste explained that she no longer relies on emotional experiences as the starting point for her music. Instead, she said her current creative process begins with experimentation—playing with chords, sampling sounds, or exploring different sonic ideas until a direction emerges.

She contrasted this with the approach used for her debut album, which she described as largely rooted in emotional expression and sad themes, noting that her earlier work was more feeling-driven compared to her current experimental style.

According to her, the new phase of her artistry is centred on exploration and allowing ideas to develop organically, rather than being guided by a specific emotional state. She further recalled that one of her early tracks, “Beggie Beggie,” was written during a bus ride home, inspired by a moment she witnessed when a woman used the phrase “beggie beggie” while reacting to a beggar on board.

The singer also reflected on the demands of her career, stressing that success in the music industry requires passion, discipline, and resilience. She noted that while the entertainment industry appears glamorous, it involves intense preparation, long rehearsal periods, and unpredictable challenges, including technical issues that can affect live performances.
