In a statement issued on Monday, Edo APC Chairman, Jarret Tenebe, called on security agencies, including the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigerian Army, to remain vigilant and prevent any attempt to disrupt proceedings at the Office of the Attorney General.
Tenebe emphasized that the APC would not tolerate any effort to undermine the judiciary or interfere with the tribunal’s decision-making process. He urged law enforcement to take the alleged threats seriously and ensure that any protest organizers are held accountable.
“The judiciary must be allowed to function without intimidation or interference. Any attempt to use protests to influence the tribunal’s verdict will be firmly resisted,” he stated.
In response to APC’s claims, PDP Deputy National Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor, dismissed the allegations as “propaganda” aimed at misleading the public.
He confirmed that the PDP had scheduled a peaceful rally in Abuja but questioned why the APC was raising concerns over a lawful demonstration.
According to Osadolor, “The APC is becoming a propaganda machine. We witnessed how they conducted elections in Edo, allocating votes randomly. Now they want to silence those demanding electoral integrity.”
He added that the rally was meant to ensure justice prevails in the state’s election process.
“What happened in Edo must not stand if we are serious about democracy. Every Nigerian must stand up and say enough is enough,” he declared.
Osadolor further called on President Bola Tinubu to caution the Edo APC leadership, particularly Chairman Jarret Tenebe, to prevent unnecessary political tension.
“The President must remind them that democracy thrives on fairness and justice, not intimidation,” he concluded.
