President Tinubu Appoints Six Chief Medical Directors For Federal Hospitals

In a statement issued on Friday by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the newly appointed CMDs and their respective institutions include:

• Prof. Olusegun Sylvester Ojo – Chief Medical Director, Federal Teaching Hospital, Akure, Ondo State.
• Prof. Yusuf Mohammed Abdullahi – Reappointed for a second term as Chief Medical Director, Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe.
• Dr. Dauda Abubakar Katagum – Confirmed as substantive Chief Medical Director, Federal Teaching Hospital, Azare, Bauchi State.
• Dr. Ikrama Hassan – Appointed Chief Medical Director of the newly upgraded Federal Teaching Hospital, Lafia, Nasarawa State.
• Dr. Ali Mohammed Ramat – Consultant Orthopaedic and Spine Surgeon, appointed as Chief Medical Director, National Orthopedic Hospital, Maiduguri, Borno State.
• Dr. Haruna Abubakar Shehu – Consultant Family Physician, appointed as Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

Each of these appointments is for a tenure of four years, effective from their respective assumption of office dates. Notably, Prof. Yusuf Mohammed Abdullahi’s second and final term commenced on September 5, 2024, while Dr. Dauda Abubakar Katagum’s tenure at the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Azare, began on December 6, 2024.

President Tinubu congratulated the newly appointed and reappointed CMDs, urging them to uphold excellence, accountability, and efficiency in delivering healthcare services. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare infrastructure and ensuring improved access to quality medical care nationwide.
