Breaking News: DSS Summons TIB Movement Organizing Secretary In Osun Over Planned Nationwide Protest

The Department of State Services (DSS) in Osun State has reportedly summoned Olasunkanmi Mary Oluwatosin, the Organizing Secretary of the state chapter of the Take It Back (TIB) Movement, for questioning concerning a nationwide protest scheduled for April 7. According to Naija News, the TIB Movement remains steadfast in its plans to proceed with the protest, which seeks to address perceived authoritarian behavior by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, human rights violations, and the misuse of the Cybercrime Act.

The protest, titled “Nationwide Protest Against Bad Governance and Suppression of Free Speech,” is intended to draw attention to these critical issues.

As reported by SaharaReporters, a DSS official named Akin contacted Oluwatosin via WhatsApp, requesting her presence at the DSS office in Osogbo, the state capital.

Oluwatosin disclosed late Sunday that she had been contacted by a DSS agent on Saturday regarding details of the planned protest. She also received a call from an unknown number on Sunday, asking her to visit the DSS office for a “discussion.”

“When I asked about the reason for the invitation, the caller indicated it was simply for a ‘conversation,’” she stated. “A DSS official called me yesterday for details about our protest, but I informed her I wasn’t available and knew little about it. Another unknown caller suggested they wished to see me, but I reiterated that I was not in town.”

In the meantime, Sanyaolu Juwon, the National Coordinator of the TIB Movement, reportedly attempted to reach the DSS official via WhatsApp, though the message had not been delivered by the time of this report.

“Hello Mr. Akin. My name is Sanyaolu Juwon, National Coordinator of the Take It Back Movement. One of our members from Osun has informed me of your instances of harassment and intimidation. I would like to remind you that the right to protest is guaranteed by the constitution. Please refrain from such actions,” Juwon reportedly wrote to the DSS.
