Rivers Crisis: Eze Alleges Wike’s Allies Plot to Sabotage Fubara’s Comeback

A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has claimed that efforts are being made to spread false accusations about the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, in a bid to block his return to office……..READ MORE

In a statement released on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Eze condemned the alleged actions of allies of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, aimed at discrediting Governor Fubara. Eze pointed out a recent press briefing by George Nwaeke, the former Head of Service of Rivers State, who allegedly accused Fubara of orchestrating a fire at the House of Assembly Complex, with the help of his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, and former Obio/Akpor Council Chairman, Chijioke Ihunwo.

Nwaeke also accused Fubara of fueling the state’s political crisis, and notably praised President Bola Tinubu for imposing emergency rule in Rivers. However, in an unexpected turn, Nwaeke’s wife publicly refuted her husband’s claims, stating that he had been coerced into making the allegations and had resigned after refusing to sign documents linking Fubara to a $15 billion fraud.

Eze, in his statement, blamed Wike for working against the reconciliation efforts in Rivers, despite President Tinubu’s directive for peace. He suggested that Wike’s goal was to ensure that Fubara remained out of office for as long as possible.

Eze further accused the Sole Administrator of Rivers State of launching a campaign of false accusations, supported by media, to prevent Fubara’s reinstatement. He warned that allowing these actions to continue unchecked would be a disgrace to all.

Eze praised Nwaeke’s wife for defending her husband’s integrity and urged President Tinubu to resist the “false narratives” being propagated by those looking to undermine the democratic process for personal gain.
