Shock and Fury: 27 ‘Free Palestine’ Protesters Dead — Shi’ites Say Police Are Murdering Detainees

In a press briefing in Abuja, Sheikh Sidi Munir Mainasara, a senior IMN leader, said at least 27 protesters have died. He alleged that 26 were killed during the initial police crackdown, and one—Huzaifa Muhammad from Katsina—died in custody at the IRT facility in Guzape on April 7.

The group condemned what it called the government’s “double standards,” pointing out that while Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Maitama Tuggar recently condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, the federal government ordered the clampdown on pro-Palestinian protests in Abuja.

Sheikh Mainasara declared that the Tinubu-led administration would be held accountable for the deaths, and vowed that IMN would take legal action and continue peaceful resistance through prayer and the courts.

> “We received the shocking news that Huzaifa Muhammad attained martyrdom in custody. We hold the Tinubu government responsible for the killing of 27 protesters,” Mainasara stated.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to legal redress and accused the government of systemic human rights violations.
