England Star Ivan Toney Hit With Assault Charge Ahead Of Key National Duty

England striker Ivan Toney has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm following an alleged incident at a nightclub in central London.

According to Ireporter Online, the 30-year-old Al Ahli forward was charged by police on July 31 over an incident reportedly linked to Wardour Street, Soho, on December 6, 2025. He is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 24.

A spokesperson for the England international confirmed that Toney was aware of the charge and expressed his readiness to defend himself in court.

“Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court,” the spokesperson said.

The timing of the court appearance has raised concerns over Toney’s availability for England’s UEFA Nations League clash against Spain at Wembley, which is scheduled just two days after his court date.

Toney, who currently plays for Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli, was recently handed a surprise return to the England squad ahead of the FIFA World Cup. He featured as a substitute in the semi-final against Argentina before starting in England’s third-place play-off victory over France.

The striker moved to Al Ahli from Brentford in August 2024 in a deal reportedly worth £40 million after an impressive spell in the Premier League. During his time at Brentford, Toney scored 72 goals in 141 appearances, including 36 goals in three Premier League seasons.

The forward began his professional career at Northampton Town before moving through clubs including Newcastle United, Peterborough United and Brentford. He also played a key role in England’s run to the Euro 2024 final after returning from a gambling-related suspension that kept him out for part of the 2023/24 season.

The case remains ongoing, with Toney set to appear in court in September.
