Critical Moment for PDP: Suswam Says NEC Will Determine the Party’s Survival

Speaking with Arise News on Tuesday, Suswam, who praised Saraki for his integrity and character, acknowledged the difficulty of reconciling aggrieved members. He emphasized that if Saraki’s mediation efforts do not succeed, the party could undergo significant changes.

“It’s a 50-50 situation,” Suswam explained. “If we don’t resolve the issue through Senator Saraki’s efforts, the PDP might not survive in its current form. Saraki is a man of integrity, and while people may not always agree with him, his work is crucial in this moment.”

He attributed the ongoing crisis to poor leadership within the party and criticized the delay in convening the expanded meeting of the PDP. “The party took too long to address these issues, and people are questioning whether we’re truly serious about resolving them,” he said.

Suswam also expressed skepticism about the NEC meeting’s ability to take place, noting it had already been postponed five times. He warned that the upcoming NEC could be a turning point for the party, one that could either revive or permanently damage the PDP. He called for hope that Saraki’s efforts would produce a positive outcome.
