Wike Drops Bombshell: Atiku Used PDP And Walked Away For 2027 Presidency

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, took a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday, alleging that Atiku abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) purely out of desperation to clinch the 2027 presidential ticket.

Speaking during a media parley in Abuja, Wike mocked Atiku for frequently switching political parties since Nigeria’s return to civilian rule in 1999.

ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, Wike claimed Atiku’s relentless ambition to become president has made him jump between platforms—from the PDP to the Action Congress (AC), back to the PDP, then to the All Progressives Congress (APC), and once again to the PDP.

“If I were his son, I’d ask him: ‘Dad, how do you keep jumping from one party to another at nearly 80?’” Wike quipped.

He also dismissed recent talks of an opposition coalition against President Bola Tinubu and the APC, calling them self-serving.

ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, Wike argued that Atiku’s sudden push for coalition politics stems from his inability to secure the PDP’s presidential ticket.

“In its current state, the PDP isn’t likely to offer him the ticket, so he’s uncomfortable. That’s why he’s calling for a coalition—not because of national interest, but because of personal failure,” Wike stated bluntly.
