According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Crayon has penned a deeply emotional tribute to his late mother, Evelyn Chukwu, who passed away on July 4th, leaving the singer devastated.

In a heartfelt message shared on X, Crayon described his mother as his “rock, backbone, angel, and best friend,” revealing the unbearable pain her death brought him. He recounted their final conversation, noting that she had prayed for him as she always did at the start of a new month — a prayer he never imagined would be her last.

Crayon shared the heartbreaking experience of seeing his mother lifeless in the hospital, calling it the darkest day of his life. “I can’t believe that’s the last image of you I’m ever going to have,” he wrote, expressing his struggle to come to terms with her passing. The Mavin Records star lamented that his mother’s death came at a time when she was finally meant to enjoy the rewards of her sacrifices, saying it felt unfair that she didn’t live to witness the fruits of her labor.
