NNPC Implements Petrol Price Increase To ₦835 Per Litre

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to ₦835 per litre in Lagos and ₦839 per litre in Abuja. Observations across multiple NNPC retail stations on Wednesday confirm the latest adjustment, signaling another round of fuel price hikes likely to affect consumers nationwide.

The move follows a recent review by Dangote Petroleum Refinery, which raised its gantry price from ₦699 to ₦799 per litre, citing the end of temporary festive period price support. The refinery noted that the previous reduction was intended to help Nigerians manage higher spending during the holiday season and that the increase reflects a return to “normal market conditions.”

With the new adjustment, retail prices at MRS filling stations distributing Dangote products are now aligned with NNPC rates, averaging around ₦839 per litre. Analysts warn that the latest hike could intensify the rising cost of living, increase transportation fares, and add further inflationary pressure on households across the country.

According to industry sources, this marks the second occasion Dangote Refinery has implemented festive price moderation as a temporary measure to ease the financial burden on the public.
