IGP Egbetokun Shakes Up Police Command, Redeploys CPs To Imo, Plateau

According to Ireporter Online, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the redeployment of two senior police officers to head commands in Imo and Plateau states as part of an ongoing reorganisation within the Nigeria Police Force.

The redeployment was conveyed through an official wireless message issued from the office of the Force Secretary, indicating that Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso has been posted to Imo State as the new Commissioner of Police. Similarly, Commissioner of Police Bassey Samuel Ewah has been reassigned to take charge of the Plateau State Police Command.

The communication, dated February 3, 2026, originated from the Force Headquarters in Abuja and was circulated to top-ranking officers across the country. Recipients included Deputy Inspectors-General, Assistant Inspectors-General, Commissioners of Police in various states, and heads of specialised formations such as Interpol, Counter-Terrorism, the Mobile Police Force, Border Patrol, Maritime Police, Air Wing, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal units, among other operational and administrative departments nationwide.

The redeployment directives are to take immediate effect.

Meanwhile, Ireporter Online also gathered that armed bandits reportedly attacked the Zurak community in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, resulting in the death of one soldier and five residents. The incident, which occurred on Monday at about 3:00 pm, reportedly led to a fierce gun battle during which three soldiers were declared missing.

A youth leader in Wase, Shapi’i Sambo, confirmed the attack, stating that the assailants had earlier set houses ablaze in the Sabon Gari community before proceeding to Zurak. He added that the attackers also looted shops, making away with food items and other valuables.
