The black market, also known as the parallel market or Aboki FX, continues to see high demand for the US dollar against the Nigerian Naira. On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, traders in Lagos reported selling a dollar at ₦1,460 and buying at ₦1,440, according to sources within Bureau De Change (BDC) operations.

It is important to note that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not recognize the parallel market. The CBN has consistently advised individuals seeking foreign exchange to conduct transactions exclusively through licensed banks to ensure compliance with official regulations.

Meanwhile, the official CBN exchange rate for the US dollar ranged from ₦1,360 to ₦1,387 on the same day. Observers caution that rates in both official and black market channels may fluctuate due to supply and demand dynamics, and transactions may vary from the figures reported.
