Critics Turned Up The Heat’ – Tinubu Comments On Fuel Subsidy Removal

According to Ireporter Online, President Bola Tinubu described the criticism following the removal of fuel subsidy and the floatation of the Naira’s foreign exchange rate as “high voltage.” He made the remarks during an interfaith breaking of fast with members of the House of Representatives on Friday.

The president acknowledged that many Nigerians initially struggled to understand his rationale behind the economic reforms. However, he emphasized that the country is now better positioned following the subsidy removal.

Tinubu stated, “It was initially very difficult for people to grasp the direction of my thinking, but I’m glad that despite the heat from critics, no one asked me to reverse the removal of subsidy or change the foreign exchange floatation of the Naira. We are out of the dark tunnel. You collaborated and inspired me to move forward because the criticism was intense, but today we are better off for it. And if there is anything you deserve, it is a second term, subject to our party and your support.”
