A governorship aspirant and daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Iyabo Obasanjo, has congratulated Senator Solomon Adeola on his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.

According to reports, she also announced her withdrawal from the race, effectively ending her 2027 governorship ambition. The decision followed the formal adoption of Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, during a strategic caucus meeting of the party held in Abeokuta.

It was gathered that the announcement of Adeola’s emergence was made by the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, at a stakeholders’ meeting. Adeola, who currently represents Ogun West in the 10th Senate, was subsequently endorsed at the party’s secretariat along Abiola Way.

The caucus meeting, convened by the state chairman, Yemi Sanusi, had in attendance prominent party leaders including former governors Olusegun Osoba, Gbenga Daniel, and Ibikunle Amosun, alongside other key stakeholders.

Reacting to the development, Iyabo Obasanjo expressed appreciation to the party leadership for the opportunity to participate in the process and urged her supporters to remain calm and committed. She conveyed her goodwill to the party’s candidate, wishing him success while encouraging her supporters across the state to remain steadfast and hopeful moving forward.
