President Bola Tinubu on Friday held a private meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, alongside a number of lawmakers at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

According to reports from Ireporter Online, the meeting took place shortly after the President and the legislators observed the Jumat prayer together at the mosque within the State House. The engagement, described as brief, was not listed on the President’s official itinerary for the day.

However, details of the discussions remain unclear, as insiders indicated they were not privy to the issues raised during the closed-door session. One official noted that the lawmakers accompanied the President back to his office after the prayers, though the purpose of the visit could not be confirmed. Another aide suggested that the meeting followed a similar engagement earlier in the week involving senators, but it remains uncertain whether both visits were connected or driven by the same concerns.

The development comes days after the Senate leadership, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, also held a private meeting with the President at the Villa. Reports had indicated that the senators sought automatic tickets ahead of the 2027 general elections, a request the President reportedly declined, reiterating that state governors retain the authority to determine party candidates within their respective states.
