The incident occurred at the Washington Hilton Hotel, where hundreds of guests had gathered for the annual high-profile black-tie event. Security operatives moved rapidly to secure the venue after a suspect was intercepted at a screening point just outside the ballroom area.

Trump later confirmed the situation, praising the swift response of security agencies, stating that law enforcement acted with urgency and professionalism and confirming that the individual responsible had been apprehended. Tactical units reportedly entered the venue with weapons drawn, securing key areas including the stage, while police cordoned off the hotel perimeter and aerial surveillance was deployed overhead.

In a statement shared on social media, he further assured that key government officials, including the First Lady, Vice President, and members of the Cabinet, were unharmed, noting that they had been safely evacuated from the premises. He also indicated that he would address the nation from the White House and that the event would be rescheduled within a month.
