According to Ireporter Online, thousands of youths from Southern Borno have raised the sum of ₦38.5 million in support of Senator Ali Ndume’s 2027 senatorial ambition. The fundraising event, which took place at Forshams Hall in Maiduguri on Saturday, attracted over 2,000 participants drawn from all nine local government areas within the senatorial district.

The contributors, made up largely of youth groups and various community associations, described their financial backing as a deliberate effort to retain what they called a “fearless and people-oriented legislator” in the National Assembly. The initiative was reportedly spearheaded by youth coordinator Babandi Shehu, who said the mobilisation was more than symbolic, but a strategic political statement reflecting the need for bold and accountable leadership.

Shehu stated that Senator Ndume has consistently distinguished himself as one of the few lawmakers who openly challenge authority in defence of public interest, adding that the contribution was aimed at preserving effective representation rather than merely funding nomination forms.

He further stressed that Nigeria requires courageous voices in governance, insisting that Ndume’s leadership style aligns with the aspirations of the people of Southern Borno.

Participants at the event also expressed confidence in the senator’s performance, citing his legislative contributions and constituency projects as key reasons for their early endorsement.

Reinforcing the claims, Senator Ndume’s Senior Legislative Aide, Junaid Jibril Maiva, highlighted what he described as a strong record of service over the years. He noted that the senator has sponsored more than 70 bills geared towards national development and has facilitated several federal projects and institutions across Southern Borno and the wider North-East region.
