Kano Assembly Ratifies Garo As Deputy Governor In Major Political Move

According to Ireporter Online, the Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed Murtala Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor of the state following the completion of his screening process during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

The confirmation followed the consideration of a report presented by the ad hoc committee chairman and Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Bello, who explained that the nomination became necessary after the resignation of former Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, which created a vacancy in the office.

During the proceedings, lawmakers noted that the screening was conducted in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which empowers the State Assembly to approve a replacement when the office of deputy governor becomes vacant.

Garo, during the exercise, was questioned extensively on his academic qualifications, professional background, and experience in public service. His credentials and supporting documents were also verified for authenticity. He further outlined his understanding of governance and expressed commitment to supporting state policies and programmes.

The committee reported that the nominee demonstrated adequate preparedness for the responsibilities of the office and showed clear insight into the working relationship expected between the deputy governor and the state executive. He also pledged to work closely with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to strengthen ongoing developmental initiatives across Kano State.

Following deliberations, the committee recommended his confirmation, which was subsequently adopted by the House, leading to the official approval of Murtala Sule Garo as Deputy Governor of Kano State.
