My Life Was Better With Multiple Women – Akon Opens Up

According to Ireporter Online, Senegalese-American singer Akon has revealed that he enjoyed a simpler and more exciting life when he was involved with multiple women, stating that his past romantic lifestyle felt easier compared to his current monogamous relationship.

The 53-year-old music executive made the disclosure during an appearance on The Shade Room, where he reflected on how his experiences in relationships have changed over time. He noted that being with one partner does not provide the same level of excitement he previously experienced.

“My life was very much easier when I had multiple women surrounding me, but me being with just one woman isn’t just exciting,” he said.

When questioned about his present relationship status and the number of women he is currently involved with, Akon declined to provide details, joking that any response would be “incriminating.”

“I plead the fifth; it will be incriminating to answer,” he added.

Akon, whose real name is Aliaune Badara Thiam, has long been vocal about his views on relationships and polygamy. In a 2022 interview, he confirmed that he is the father of nine children.

His comments come months after reports emerged in September 2025 that his wife, Tomeka Thiam, filed for divorce after 28 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The union produced one daughter, Journey.
