The Kano State chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the postponement of its planned state congress, which was originally scheduled for the election of new party executives.

According to Ireporter Online, the decision was disclosed in a statement issued by the Director-General of Social Media for the party in Kano State, Adam Said Adam.

The statement explained that the postponement became necessary following the recent influx of prominent political figures who have joined the party, a development that has significantly increased its membership base in the state.

The State Chairman of the NDC in Kano, Hon. Husaini Isah Mai Riga, stated that the surge in new entrants made it imperative for the party to engage in wider consultations and undertake more thorough preparations before proceeding with the congress.

He noted that additional time was required to properly integrate the new members and ensure that the exercise is conducted in a transparent, inclusive, and well-organised manner.

Mai Riga further cautioned that proceeding with the congress without adequate arrangements could undermine inclusivity and disrupt the smooth conduct of the process.

He assured party members and supporters that a new date for the congress would be announced once all necessary arrangements have been concluded.

The chairman reiterated the commitment of the party leadership to strengthening its structure in Kano State and ensuring that all stakeholders are fully carried along in the process of electing new executives.
