According to Ireporter Online, a woman has recounted a painful family ordeal following the death of her father, alleging that his relatives seized his properties and subjected her mother and siblings to sustained harassment, leaving the family displaced and emotionally distressed.

The story, which gained attention after being shared on social media, has sparked public debate on inheritance disputes, widow protection, and domestic conflict in Nigeria.

She alleged that shortly after her father’s passing, extended family members took control of all his belongings and properties, leaving her immediate family without support or shelter. According to her, the situation quickly escalated into intimidation and hostility, ultimately forcing them out of their family home.

She further claimed that her paternal grandmother repeatedly harassed her mother, insisting she had no right to remain in the home after her husband’s death, and made derogatory remarks while pressuring her to leave.

The woman also alleged instances of severe hostility within the extended family, including attempts that endangered their safety, which contributed to their decision to relocate for protection. She added that her mother later suffered a serious injury during the period of instability, worsening their hardship.

In a bid to rebuild their lives, she said the family eventually left the environment and changed their surname to distance themselves from the traumatic experience.
