Top Nigerian Footballers Excelling Abroad: Iheanacho, Sanusi, Uzoho & Others Shine On The Global Stage

Nigerian footballers continued to make significant impact across Europe over the weekend, delivering decisive goals, title wins and impressive performances for their respective clubs.

According to Ireporter Online, in Scotland, Kelechi Iheanacho proved decisive once again as Celtic F.C. secured a 2-1 victory over Hibernian F.C. The forward netted the winning goal in close range, extending his fine form since returning from injury with four goals in six appearances. The result keeps Celtic level on points with leaders Heart of Midlothian as the title race intensifies.

In Cyprus, Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho celebrated a major career milestone after AC Omonia clinched the 2025/26 Cypriot First Division title with a commanding 3-0 win over Aris Limassol FC. The triumph ends the club’s five-year wait for domestic success and earns them a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League qualifiers. Uzoho, who featured in five league matches and kept three clean sheets, lifted his first league trophy since joining the club in 2021.

Elsewhere, Nathan Tella and Igoh Ogbu opened their goal accounts for the new season in impressive fashion.
