According to Ireporter Online, Afrobeats star Rema has been officially included in the lineup for the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony scheduled to hold in Los Angeles, United States. The announcement was confirmed by FIFA on Saturday, revealing that the Nigerian singer will perform alongside global stars including South Africa’s Tyla, American rapper Future, pop icon Katy Perry, Brazilian singer Anitta, and BLACKPINK’s LISA.

FIFA disclosed that the opening celebrations will be staged across three host nations, with Mexico City set for June 11, 2026, while Toronto and Los Angeles will host their respective ceremonies on June 12. The football governing body explained that the events are designed to merge football, music, and entertainment in what it described as a historic global summer spanning Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

The Los Angeles ceremony is expected to begin 90 minutes before kickoff and will feature pre-match entertainment for fans in attendance. FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the Los Angeles show as a reflection of the scale and cultural diversity of the 2026 tournament, noting that it will highlight the United States’ global influence in music, entertainment, and pop culture, while also celebrating the power of music to unite people across different backgrounds.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will feature 104 matches across 16 cities in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, kicking off on June 11 in Mexico City and concluding with the final on July 19 at the New York/New Jersey Stadium.
