Atiku Dominates ADC Primary, Hayatu-Deen Defeats Amaechi In Sokoto Contest

According to Ireporter Online, former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has recorded a decisive victory in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election held across the 23 local government areas of Sokoto State.

The chief returning officer, Prof. Aminu Abubakar, announced the results on Monday, declaring that Atiku secured a total of 68,823 votes to emerge winner of the exercise. He was followed by former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who polled 292 votes, while businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen garnered 319 votes.

Prof. Abubakar described the process as peaceful and orderly, noting that a total of 69,434 votes were cast during the primary election. He subsequently declared Atiku Abubakar as the candidate with the highest number of votes in Sokoto State.

The announcement was made in the presence of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security operatives, and key party stakeholders, including former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, ADC governorship candidate Mannir Dan Iya, Senatorial candidate for Sokoto South, Faruk Malami Yabo, and the state party chairman, Abdullahi Maigwandu, among others.

The ADC presidential primary, which is part of preparations for the 2027 general elections, was conducted simultaneously across all 8,809 wards nationwide.
