The exchange rate between the United States Dollar and the Nigerian Naira at the parallel market, popularly known as the black market, remained a major point of interest for forex traders and businesses on Monday, May 25, 2026.

According to market sources monitoring activities at the Lagos parallel market, the Dollar exchanged at ₦1,395 for selling and ₦1,385 for buying at the Bureau De Change (BDC) segment of the market. The rates reflect ongoing fluctuations in the foreign exchange market as demand for the American currency continues to shape trading activities across the country.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has continued to distance itself from transactions carried out in the parallel market, maintaining that it does not officially recognize black market dealings. The apex bank has repeatedly advised individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange transactions to utilize official banking channels.

Data from the official market showed that the Dollar-to-Naira exchange rate under the CBN window traded between a highest rate of ₦1,377 and a lowest rate of ₦1,373 during the day’s trading session.

Financial observers, however, noted that exchange rates may differ depending on location, demand, and volume of transactions, as forex prices remain subject to constant market fluctuations.
