ADC Fires Back At Amaechi Over Presidential Primary Rigging Claim

According to reports monitored by Ireporter Online, the party advised aggrieved aspirants to allow the ongoing collation of results from the nationwide direct primary to be concluded before drawing conclusions about the credibility of the exercise.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated that there was currently no concrete evidence to support claims that the presidential primary had been manipulated in favour of former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar.

Abdullahi explained that since the collation process was still underway, it would be premature to either validate or dismiss the allegations being raised by some aspirants. He noted that the party was yet to observe any pattern capable of confirming the claims and expressed optimism that a clearer picture would emerge once the process was completed.

The ADC had conducted its nationwide direct primary on Monday ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Although the party was yet to officially announce final results from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory as of the time of filing this report, early figures reportedly placed Atiku in the lead, with Amaechi trailing behind while Hayatu-Deen occupied third position.

Abdullahi further disclosed that the party had already put in place internal and statutory mechanisms for handling disputes arising from the primary exercise, urging dissatisfied contestants to take advantage of the available processes for redress.

Reacting to reports of a parallel faction within the party, the ADC spokesman dismissed concerns over the development, insisting that the leadership remained unfazed. He maintained that the Independent National Electoral Commission recognised the current National Working Committee as the legitimate authority overseeing the party’s congresses and primary elections.

He added that officials of the electoral commission had monitored every stage of the ADC’s congresses and primaries across the country, including activities in the Federal Capital Territory, stressing that the process had been properly documented and supervised. Abdullahi also expressed confidence that INEC officials would remain present at the collation centre, insisting that the party had no fears regarding the legitimacy of the exercise or the transparency of the process.
