Damilola Sonayon-James Speaks On Her Emergence As Lagos Deputy Governorship Candidate

In a statement shared on her X account on Wednesday, Sonayon-James expressed gratitude to God, describing her nomination as part of what she believes is a divinely guided journey. She noted that her emergence reflects the limitless possibilities within Lagos politics and should serve as encouragement for others aspiring to leadership positions.

She also extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his wife Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, as well as the APC governorship candidate Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and his wife. She further acknowledged the Lagos APC leadership, party elders, and members across all levels for their support and confidence in her.

The deputy governorship candidate also expressed gratitude to the Governance Advisory Council led by Prince Tajudeen Olusi, traditional rulers, community leaders, women and youth groups, and political stakeholders across the state.

She gave special recognition to the people of Badagry and Badagry West, whom she previously represented, noting that their encouragement has remained a source of strength and inspiration throughout her political journey.

Sonayon-James emphasized that her nomination represents a collective victory for women and young people, adding that she remains committed to engaging with supporters in the coming days.

She further pledged to work alongside the party’s governorship candidate and other leaders to sustain Lagos State’s reputation as a model of progressive governance and excellence in Nigeria.
