According to Ireporter Online, the senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has called for the immediate arrest of former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari, over allegations of corruption and financial misconduct during his tenure.

Oshiomhole accused the former NNPCL boss of failing to account for alleged mismanagement involving trillions of naira, insisting that he must be compelled to answer questions regarding his stewardship at the national oil company. He urged the Senate committee handling the investigation to immediately exercise its constitutional powers and issue a warrant for Kyari’s arrest without delay.

The former Edo State governor stressed that Kyari must personally appear before the committee and cannot be represented by anyone else, arguing that he should be held accountable for his actions while in office. He further questioned the handling of national revenues at a time when Nigeria continues to borrow funds, adding that serious allegations raised by auditors must not be ignored.

Oshiomhole also maintained that both former and current leadership of the NNPCL should be held accountable, stating that there must be no exceptions or excuses in the pursuit of transparency and constitutional compliance.
