You Never Left Us’ – Wike Commends Tinubu Over FCT Funding
President Bola Tinubu has been commended by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his unwavering support to the FCT Administration, particularly through the consistent release of funds that have enabled the execution of key projects across the nation’s capital.
According to Ireporter Online, Wike made the remarks on Monday during the inauguration of the newly completed Body of Benchers Building in Abuja, an event held as part of activities commemorating the third anniversary of Tinubu’s administration.
Addressing guests at the ceremony, the minister expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for what he described as steadfast backing of the FCT Administration. He stated that the timely release of funds by the Federal Government had made it possible for his ministry to carry out its responsibilities without major financial setbacks.
Wike also acknowledged the presence of members of the legal profession, senior government officials, and other dignitaries, thanking them for their continued participation in the series of project inaugurations that began on June 10.
Reflecting on the origin of the Body of Benchers Building project, the minister recounted that a former Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Chief Aromolo, had approached him with a request for improved office accommodation, explaining that the institution’s existing facility was inadequate.
According to Wike, he initially informed the senior advocate that the budget for the year had already been approved, making it impossible to accommodate the request at the time. However, after further discussions, he sought the intervention of President Tinubu, who directed that the project be included in the supplementary budget.
The minister disclosed that the proposal subsequently received the approval of the National Assembly, paving the way for the construction of the facility. He added that funds initially earmarked for a Federal High Court project, which was not executed, were later redirected to the construction of road infrastructure within the FCT.
