Otuaro: Tinubu Has Transformed Niger Delta Into Nigeria’s Most Peaceful Region

The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as the transformation of the Niger Delta into Nigeria’s most peaceful region through sustained peacebuilding efforts.

According to reports, Otuaro made the statement during the opening ceremony of the sixth batch of a two-day Leadership, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Mediation Training organised for PAP stakeholders at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja.

A statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Igoniko Oduma, revealed that the latest training session had 120 participants, while previous editions held between July and December 2025 produced over 240 trained stakeholders focused on conflict resolution and peacebuilding.

Otuaro attributed the improved security and stability in the Niger Delta to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and the support of the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

He highlighted the PAP’s educational initiatives, including the deployment of 8,500 scholarship beneficiaries to Nigerian universities and 247 others pursuing postgraduate studies abroad, as part of efforts aimed at promoting development and sustaining peace in the region.

The PAP administrator stated that the backing received from President Tinubu and the Office of the National Security Adviser had strengthened the programme’s ability to drive lasting peace and development across the Niger Delta.

He insisted that the region had moved beyond its former challenges, adding that President Tinubu’s administration had helped change the negative perception previously associated with the Niger Delta.

Otuaro further declared that the region would continue to support Tinubu, stating that residents would not be influenced by what he described as political rhetoric from “political businessmen” ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said the peacebuilding programme remained committed to engaging stakeholders through inclusive policies aimed at achieving sustainable stability in the region.

The PAP boss also thanked stakeholders, the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, and the facilitator of the training, Commodore Amatare Kpou (Rtd.), for their contributions toward strengthening peace efforts in the Niger Delta.
