Oshiomhole Slams NNPC: “No One Is Too Big To Be Questioned

According to Ireporter Online, Oshiomhole made the remarks during a committee hearing at the National Assembly, where he expressed concerns over the company’s failure to appear before the Senate.

The former Edo State governor argued that even President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not send representatives to present the annual budget before lawmakers, stressing that the legislature remains a key arm of government that must be respected.

Oshiomhole said the NNPCL should remember that it is an agency of government and cannot operate above elected representatives of the people.

He stated that if the President could personally appear before the Senate President, senators and members of the House of Representatives to engage with the legislative arm of government, there was no justification for the oil company to avoid such appearances.

The lawmaker questioned why the NNPCL appeared reluctant to answer questions from lawmakers, insisting that the company was not superior to the nation’s institutions.

Oshiomhole further maintained that accountability remains essential, adding that no government agency should behave as though it is beyond scrutiny by representatives of the Nigerian people.
