Soludo: Tinubu Is Healing Civil War Wounds In Southeast

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as a historic commitment towards rebuilding the Southeast region through major infrastructure projects.

According to Ireporter Online, Soludo said the President’s recent interventions in the region represent a significant step towards addressing longstanding developmental challenges and healing the wounds associated with the Nigerian Civil War.

The Anambra governor made the remarks while reacting to President Tinubu’s approval for the dualisation of two major road projects: the 108-kilometre Otuocha–Anam–Abaji road linking Anambra to Kogi State, and the 150-kilometre Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube road connecting Anambra and Imo States to the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway through Abia State.

Soludo disclosed that he had raised the issue of the road projects during a meeting with President Tinubu on July 1, after which the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, contacted him to provide details of the proposed routes.

He revealed that the President approved both projects for design and procurement within days of receiving the information.

Expressing excitement over the development, Soludo described the projects as transformative initiatives that would have a major impact on the Southeast, South-South and North Central regions.

The governor stated that President Tinubu’s actions demonstrate a strong commitment to the economic and infrastructural renewal of the Southeast, adding that several major projects currently underway in the region would contribute to its long-term development.

Soludo said the approved roads were more than just infrastructure projects, describing them as “game changers” that would improve connectivity, boost economic activities and enhance the quality of life for residents.

He praised the collaborative approach between the federal and state governments, noting that political partnerships should focus on delivering tangible benefits to citizens.

The Anambra governor further stated that President Tinubu’s leadership would leave a lasting impact on the Southeast, expressing confidence that history would remember the President positively for his contributions to regional development.

“President Tinubu has a date with history, especially with the Southeast. He continues to demonstrate his commitment to reconstructing the region and healing the wounds of the Civil War,” Soludo said.
