Oyo Widow Cries Out: “FG, Please Release My Husband’s Remains

The widow of Deacon John Olaleye, one of the teachers killed by terrorists during the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has appealed to the Federal Government and Governor Seyi Makinde to assist in recovering her husband’s remains for a befitting burial.

According to Ireporter Online, the tragic incident occurred on May 15, 2026, when terrorists attacked three schools in Oriire Local Government Area, killing one teacher and abducting seven teachers and 39 pupils.

Reports indicate that another teacher, Michael Oyedokun, was later killed by the attackers, with the act shown in a video that circulated widely online. Following the eventual rescue of the abducted victims, authorities confirmed that Olaleye was also among those killed in captivity, bringing the number of teachers who lost their lives during the incident to two.

In an emotional video shared by TVC, Olaleye’s widow appealed to the government to help recover her husband’s body and provide support for the family, particularly their three children who were left behind.

She urged authorities to assist with the education of the children and provide help to enable her to cater for the family, noting that she had become solely responsible for their welfare.

The grieving widow said she was devastated after learning that her husband was not among those rescued, pleading with the government to help return his remains so he could be given a proper burial.

She added that her husband’s death had left the family in a difficult situation and appealed for assistance to secure the future of their children.

Also speaking in the video, the deceased teacher’s elder brother revealed that the family only discovered Olaleye’s death through an announcement by the Oyo State Government regarding the rescue operation.

He appealed to the authorities to recover his brother’s remains, even if only skeletal parts could be found, saying it would bring some comfort to the family and allow them to perform burial rites.

The elder brother also called for support for Olaleye’s widow, including possible employment assistance and educational scholarships for the couple’s three children.

The appeals came shortly after the Federal Government announced the rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers following an intelligence-driven security operation aimed at locating and freeing the victims.
