The Olojo Kosoko Ruling House of Lagos has accused some individuals of allegedly using police officers to intimidate members of the family and enforce what it described as an unlawful occupation of the Oloja of Lagos Palace, despite an existing court order directing parties involved in the dispute to maintain the status quo.

According to Ireporter Online, the allegation was contained in a statement signed by the Head of the ruling house, Prince Surajudeen Abiodun Olojo-Kosoko, and the Secretary, Prince Theophilus Olojo-Kosoko.

The family claimed that the alleged actions were being carried out in violation of a July 7, 2026 ruling of the Lagos State High Court, where Justice Oresanya directed all parties involved in the chieftaincy dispute over the Oloja of Lagos stool to maintain the existing situation pending the determination of the substantive case.

The ruling house alleged that police officers had been stationed at the palace, restricting access for family members and authorised visitors while allegedly providing protection for individuals it described as unauthorised occupants.

It further claimed that Prince Abiola Olojo-Kosoko, whom it identified as the Oloja of Lagos-elect, alongside other family members, had received police invitations allegedly triggered by parties involved in the dispute.

“The Palace is currently under siege, and this direct violation of a court order is a recipe for a breakdown of law and order on Lagos Island,” Prince Surajudeen stated, urging the police to remain neutral and avoid being drawn into a civil chieftaincy matter already before the court.

The family described the alleged development as contempt of court, misuse of police authority and an infringement on the rights of its members.

It called on the Lagos State Police Command to immediately remove officers from the palace, investigate the circumstances surrounding the invitations issued to members of the ruling house, and ensure that the police maintain impartiality while the legal process continues.

The Olojo Kosoko Ruling House said it had submitted certified copies of the court order and other relevant documents to the Commissioner of Police, adding that the Inspector-General of Police, Lagos State Attorney-General, Registrar of the Lagos State High Court, the Oba of Lagos and the Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor had also been informed.

The family appealed to relevant authorities to intervene urgently, uphold the rule of law and prevent any situation that could threaten peace and stability on Lagos Island.
