God Willing, Obi Won’t Become President” – Oshiomhole Declares

According to Ireporter Online, Oshiomhole made the remarks during an interview on TVC News on Monday, where he described Obi as a trader whose approach is based on short-term calculations rather than long-term planning.

The former Edo State governor argued that traders typically focus on quick business turnover, unlike manufacturers and investors who develop projects with long-term goals.

Oshiomhole stated that leadership requires the ability to make decisions that may not produce immediate results but are designed to create lasting benefits for the country.

The senator also questioned Obi’s political consistency, recalling his decision to leave the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) after serving as Anambra State governor and later becoming the running mate to Atiku Abubakar under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election.

He claimed that Obi had previously expressed commitment to remaining with APGA in honour of the late Igbo leader, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, but later changed political direction after leaving office.

Oshiomhole further argued that a person’s background and business approach could provide insight into how they might govern if elected into office.

He maintained that entrepreneurs involved in manufacturing and production are more familiar with long-term economic planning because they often invest years before seeing returns.

The Edo North lawmaker also accused Obi of benefiting more from importation than local production, claiming that such a business model does not encourage domestic job creation.

Oshiomhole concluded by dismissing Obi’s chances of becoming Nigeria’s president, stating that, in his view, the former Anambra governor does not possess the qualities needed for the nation’s top leadership position.
