Dollar to Naira Rate Today, August 25, 2026: $1 Exchanges at ₦1,347
The Nigerian foreign exchange market opened the week with a noticeable difference between the official exchange rate and the parallel market rate for the US dollar.
As of Monday, August 24, 2026, the dollar was reportedly sold for about ₦1,410 and bought for approximately ₦1,400 at the Lagos parallel market, according to information obtained from Bureau De Change (BDC) operators.
This means that individuals looking to sell one US dollar could receive around ₦1,400, while those seeking to purchase a dollar from parallel-market operators could pay approximately ₦1,410.
Meanwhile, the official exchange rate remained lower, with the dollar reportedly trading within a range of ₦1,345 to ₦1,350.
According to market observers, exchange rates can vary depending on location, demand and prevailing market conditions. As a result, the actual rate offered to buyers or sellers may differ from the figures reported.
It is also important to note that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not recognise the parallel or black market as an official foreign exchange channel. The apex bank has continued to direct individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange to authorised financial institutions.
The difference between the official and parallel market rates highlights the continued fluctuations in Nigeria’s foreign exchange market, with traders and consumers closely monitoring movements in the value of the naira against major international currencies.
