Saliu Mustapha’s Popularity Soars Ahead Of APC National Congress Slated For February 2022
Mallam Saliu Mustapha has added another win to his list as the approval rating for his chairmanship aspiration for the APC top job comes up top in the latest voting intention polls amongst APC stakeholders.
Independent pollster Grassroots Democratic Watch most recent survey on the battle for the APC National Chairmanship position shows that his popularity rose from 60 % in September to 75 % as of the last week of November.
This shows his approval rating has increased 15% ahead of the National Congress scheduled for February 2022.
The poll was conducted by Grassroots Democratic Watch for opinion research from November 10th to December 4th to estimate APC voters perception of the current chances amongst aspirants for the party’s number one seat after the final approval was given for the congress to be held in February 2022.
The positive rating cuts across all six geo-political regions amongst all the states chapter of the APC.
In North Central, Mallam Saliu received the highest approval rating with 90%, while he scored above 70 % in North East and retained over 60 % in North West.
In the South, Mallam Saliu Mustapha was clearly the favourite with respondents giving him a clear thumbs-up. Mallam Saliu Mustapha seems to be well accepted across the board by the majority of APC members from all age groups and all strata of life.
His acceptability can not be divorced from his unique style of campaign that has resurrected hope amongst party members. His humility and passion towards the party bringing back the ideologies of the founding members of the party is a huge selling point for the Turaki of Ilorin.
Seen as a game-changer, Saliu Mustapha’s enviable record as a sound and committed party administrator gives him an ample edge amongst his competitors.
Party stakeholders are of the view that his chairmanship would bring an end to the imposition of party members and enforce due process.
The women community in APC as expected gave him a high rating of 80 % referring to his humanitarian services and compassion towards party members and the masses at large. His constituency the Youths in APC gave him their strong support with over 90 % approval rating.
On his style of campaign and reaching out to party stakeholders across the federation 50 % of respondents praised him for his ability to meet with key stakeholders and his plans to unite all aggrieved party members within the APC. He was scored over 80 % as well for being a good bridge builder.
On his ability to be a good leader and a role model for party members, 70 % of survey participants were optimistic he would be a better candidate than his contenders.
With many respondents having apathy on party discipline across elected members, Saliu Mustapha still scored above average on party discipline and adherence, resulting in an acceptance rating of 68 per cent.
On acceptability by Nigerians, 70 % of respondents are confident that Nigerians would accept his chairmanship, with 30 per cent expressing indifference to the question.
According to Grassroots Democratic Watch, there is an estimated plus-minus margin error of 5 %, with over 70 % of participants responding through the internet.
After so many postponements and politicking, the All Progressives Congress, APC finally resolved to hold its national congress in February 2022.
