Former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Audu Sule Katagum, has passed away at the age of 69, bringing an end to a lifetime of public service and community leadership.

According to Ireporter Online, Katagum died in the early hours of Saturday. His passing was confirmed by Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar, the digital and creative media aide to former Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, under whose administration Katagum served as deputy governor between 2018 and 2019.

In a statement announcing the development, Lukman expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the late politician and traditional title holder as a dedicated public servant who devoted his life to the service of his community, Bauchi State and the nation.

He noted that details of the funeral arrangements would be communicated at a later time while offering prayers for Allah’s mercy, forgiveness and eternal rest for the deceased, as well as strength for his family, friends and associates during the period of mourning.

Before assuming the office of deputy governor, he served as Chief of Staff at the Bauchi State Government House, where he played a significant role in the administration.

He was also the son of the late elder statesman, Alhaji Sule Katagum, the first chairman of Nigeria’s Federal Public Service Commission and a former holder of the Wazirin Katagum title.

The late former deputy governor is survived by his wife, children and other family members. His death has been widely described as a significant loss to the Katagum Emirate and Bauchi State, with many remembering him for his commitment to public service, leadership and the development of his people.
