Big Relief! Delta Rolls Out Welfare Support For Army Applicants

The Delta State Government has approved a welfare package for candidates participating in the ongoing Nigerian Army 91st Regular Recruits Intake Screening Exercise in Asaba, as part of efforts to ease the challenges associated with the recruitment process.

According to reports, the intervention was introduced as the screening exercise entered its 10th day, with the state government seeking to reduce the financial burden on shortlisted applicants and provide a more conducive environment throughout the exercise.

In a statement issued to defence correspondents in Abuja by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Directorate of Recruitment, Captain Abubakar Umar Hammanga, the Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, disclosed that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori approved the welfare initiative.

The statement noted that the support package is designed to assist candidates with daily welfare needs while enhancing their overall experience during the screening exercise. As part of the intervention, the state government is providing daily welfare assistance, accommodation materials including foams and bedding, as well as transportation services to facilitate the movement of applicants to and from designated screening locations.

The recruitment screening exercise is scheduled to conclude on June 23, with authorities urging all shortlisted candidates who are yet to report at the screening centre to do so before the deadline. Officials cautioned that failure to participate within the stipulated period could result in disqualification from the recruitment process.

The statement also revealed that the Commander of 63 Brigade, Brigadier General F. Shonibare, and the Director of Recruitment, Brigadier General I. Sule, visited the screening centre to assess the ongoing exercise.

During their engagements with the candidates, the senior military officers encouraged them to remain disciplined, focused, and committed throughout the screening process, assuring participants that the recruitment exercise would be conducted transparently and strictly on merit. They further urged the applicants to give their best performance at every stage as they compete for enlistment into the Nigerian Army.
