African Bar Association Warns Nigerian Politicians to Leave The Chief Justice of Nigeria And The Judiciary Out Of Politics

A Statement released by the Director of Strategic Communications of the African BarAssociation (AfBA) quote the President if the African Bar Association (AfBA)-HannibalUwaifo Esq., as asking Nigerian Politicians to focus on their politics and leave the Chief Justice of Nigeria-Hon Justice Olukayode Ariwola (CJN) and the Nigerian Judiciary, out of their political shenanigans.

The Statement reads in full thus :

“POLITICIANS LEAVE THE CHIEF JUSTICE OF NIGERIA AND THE NIGERIAN JUDICIARY ALONE

PRESS STATEMENT

The African Bar Association has watched with deep regret the irresponsible attempt by some Politicians and their cronies in Nigeria to embellish a simple light joke made by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Honourable Justice Olukayode Ariwola CJN, into a mountain to feed their intractable Political divisiveness.

While it is true that no type of politricks is beyond several Nigerian Politicians, the attempt to tarnish the image of the respected CJN and by implication the Apex Judiciary over a harmless innocent joke will not go unchallenged by the Bar and all those whose duty it is to defend the sanctity of the judiciary and the independence of the Bar.

Accordingly, the African Bar Association commends and fully aligns with the statement already made by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Mr. Yakubu Maikyau, SAN over the matter and hereby advise all those responsible for the rash commentaries and uncouth behaviour to desist and stop forthwith.

The African Bar Association will continue to support, protect and defend the independence and integrity of the Nigerian Judiciary, the African judiciaries and hereby call on the Hon. Chief Justice of Nigeria to ignore these mischievous comments.
