Powerful PDP Chieftain, Supporters Dump Party For APC In Katsina (PHOTO)

Alhaji Hamisu Gambo, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Katsina State, and his supporters have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) just 80 days before the 2023 general election.

Gambo’s defection to the APC, as an elder statesman, former parliamentarian, and kinsman of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, may be linked to the PDP’s leadership crisis in the state.

Gambo, who was welcomed into the APC by Governor Aminu Bello Masari at Government House, attributed his decision to the governor’s “good and purpose-driven leadership.”

“My decision to join the APC alongside my supporters was to appreciate Governor Aminu Bello Masari’s people-oriented policies aimed at improving the wellbeing of the people in the state,” Danlawan-Katsina said.

In welcoming the defectors back into the APC fold, Governor Masari urged state residents, particularly political leaders and other stakeholders, not to let political differences divide them.

He went on to say that politics and tribalism should not be dividing factors in the state or the country as a whole, but that integrity should be Nigerians’ watchdog.

The governor described Gambo as a sharp politician who can help the APC win at the federal and state levels in the upcoming 2023 general election.
