1,500 Out-Of-School Children To Benefit Form Katsina’s New Education Support Scheme

Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Radda, has launched an education support program through his Gwagware Foundation, aiming to assist 1,500 out-of-school children in the state. The initiative, named the “Back to School Programme,” will provide beneficiaries with school uniforms, writing materials, and financial support to mothers for small-scale businesses to help sustain their children’s education.

Governor Radda emphasized the importance of philanthropy and the need for individuals to contribute to societal welfare. The program also includes an environmental component, with each child receiving three economic tree seedlings to plant.

Yusuf Musawa, Chairman of the Gwagware Foundation, highlighted the foundation’s broader humanitarian efforts, which include support for women and youth. Dr. Mustapha Shehu, Coordinator of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, contributed 10,000 school bags and other materials to the program.

Dr. Kabir Magaji, Executive Chairman of the state Basic Education Board (SUBEB), praised the initiative, noting its potential to encourage and retain children in education.
