2027: APC Explains Why It Changed Final National Assembly Candidates List

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has explained that the status of several aspirants initially declared winners in its recent primaries was altered following a comprehensive review of more than 700 petitions filed by dissatisfied members across the country.

According to Ireporter Online, the party stated that the petitions, submitted after its nationwide primary elections, were carefully examined by its appeal committee before final ratification by the National Working Committee (NWC).

APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, who spoke in a telephone interview, said the party took time to thoroughly assess all complaints before arriving at its final decisions.

Morka revealed that over 700 petitions were received and duly reviewed, noting that while some were upheld, others were dismissed.

He explained that successful petitions led to corrections in certain constituencies, while unsuccessful ones confirmed the earlier declared winners. In some instances, he added, the review process resulted in changes to initial outcomes.

The APC spokesperson further stated that the party had concluded the petition process, stressing that the current list of candidates consists of both unchallenged primary winners and those validated through the appeal mechanism.

He noted that the party’s immediate focus is now on ensuring all nominated candidates complete and submit their INEC Form EC9 for upload to the electoral body’s nomination portal.

Morka added that successful candidates have already received the necessary documentation and are actively engaging with party officials to meet submission requirements ahead of INEC’s deadline.

He also clarified that the party is not prioritizing the public release of the full candidate list at this stage, but rather the completion of mandatory electoral filings.

According to him, the individuals who emerged as candidates are already aware of their status, adding that there is no internal confusion within the party regarding the final list.
