The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled a revised list of its National Assembly candidates for the 2027 general elections, removing former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, and former House of Representatives member, Gbenga Elegbeleye, from the final lineup.

According to Ireporter Online, the party also effected widespread substitutions across senatorial and House of Representatives tickets following the conclusion of its primary election appeal process, affecting five senatorial aspirants and 19 House of Representatives candidates across nine states, including Kogi, Abia, Benue, Taraba, Ondo, Niger, Kwara, Kaduna, and Ebonyi.

The updated list was officially transmitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in a letter jointly signed by APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru. The correspondence, titled “Forwarding of Approved List of Senatorial and House of Representatives Candidates,” stated that the adjustments were based on the recommendations of the party’s Primary Election Appeal Committee and subsequently ratified by the NWC.

In the letter, the party explained that the changes followed a review of appeals arising from the recently concluded primaries, noting that the Appeal Committee’s recommendations were adopted as the party’s final position on the affected constituencies in line with the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended) and INEC guidelines.

Findings show that in Benue North East, Gabriel Suswam was replaced by Emmanuel Memga Udende, while in Benue North West, Benjamin T. Aber gave way to Titus Tartenger Zam. In Ondo State, Gbenga Elegbeleye was substituted with Olajide Ipinsagbe for Ondo North Senatorial District, while Adeniyi Adegbonmire emerged for Ondo Central in place of Taiwo Fasorati.

Other notable adjustments include Senator Sunday Karimi replacing Aro Samuel Bamidele in Kogi West, Prince Paul Ikonne taking over from Edinburgh Uchenna Erondu in Abia South, and Shuibu Isa Lau replacing Mohammed Kabir Bello in Taraba North.

The reshuffle also extended to 19 House of Representatives seats across the affected states, with Benue and Ondo recording significant changes among their federal constituencies.

The APC stated that the revised list represents its final candidates’ lineup for the 2027 National Assembly elections.
